The catch in Korean manhwa is that the hero turns out to be a villain too! Roa finds out by the skin of her teeth, thanks to her longtime best friend. Now, Roa must work to cut her ties with this man, only he seems to be taking a romantic interest rather than a distant one.

Yun Jae-eun loves to escape her boring nine-to-five job to a world of a princess in her latest read, “The Rose of Isonia”. That is until she wakes up one day and finds herself in the body of this Sheilia Aidenrose.

While this young heir might be living the good life of riches, success, and a nice boyfriend, Sheilia was also a cruel, notorious ruler. Thankfully Jae-eun’s sister was the one who wrote this epic novel so she knows how to navigate it.

While Jae-eun knows she must change this antagonist’s ways to avoid meeting an unruly death for her actions, in doing so, she changes the course of several characters.

This is not how the story should go! Can Jae-eun stay true to the story’s plot without altering major changes?

Every villainess deserves some sympathy, right? Well, that’s what Dahye thought. As she was reading “For Shannon“, she watched the villainess fight for one-sided love. Dahye is reincarnated into Violet’s body, an evil princess.

Dahye decides to change this character’s ways as she’s never had a luxurious lifestyle. Her kind spirit extends good grace to the servants, and rather than being jealousy stricken toward the woman who’s married her love interest, she turned to a nice, empowering friend.

Only the plot twist of her long love has finally confessed his feelings and now the woman Dahye was trying to treat with kindness has grown bitter. Will her kindness and newfound actions right the wrongs of a most hated and despised woman?

This world’s MC was reincarnated as a witch who was destined to die at the hands of her killer, who happens to show up on her doorstep years before the event plays out. What would you do in this situation?

Celeste, our anti-heroine, knows exactly what to do at this moment. She meets her killer as a child and takes him in hoping to alter his upbringing and shape him into a decent human being. Only, she’s never raised a child before!

Thankfully, with the help of her butler, she’s able to make small progressions in setting on a good track for adulthood. Except it’s all a gamble in this Korean comic because what’s a good deed without bad ones interfering?

Looks like these Korean comics sure do love the Alice in Wonderland theme. Here, a young girl becomes a princess known as Libertia who is destined to sentence her and all of her subjects to death.

Now, our young antagonist must work against the clock to prevent people from dying and give them a happy ending. Can she do it when an evil rule has been the only thing everyone’s known?

Ahh yes, yet another author falling into their story once again. Don’t worry, this manhwa isn’t at all repetitive. This university student finds herself reincarnated into her fifteen year old’s novel, Eternal Love.

Except, instead of starting where the book begins, she’s tossed back seven years earlier as the lead male’s half-sister. (See told you this won’t be a repetitive plot). Now playing the part of Ran Romea, she must learn to navigate this unknown character in her story.

She must teach her half-brother, Yustaf, to trust again after having been tormented by their own mother. Not only that, but it turns out Ran had a villainous past too that she must clear up if she wants to make things right in the House of Latia for Yustaf’s return.

On her way home from work, our MC is in a car accident and ends up dying. Only to be reincarnated into the body of a character in a book she’d been reading. (My, oh my, do Korean comics love this niche, won’t you agree?)

The MC is now known as Jubellian Eloy Floyen, daughter to a father who refuses to listen as he arranges a marriage with a crown prince. Jubellian, thanks to the original antagonist’s past knowledge, knows the prince is a thug.

He will kill anyone who does not obey his beck and call. Knowing a life of torture awaits that will drive Jubelilian to suicide. Our anti-heroine now fights off her engagement, hoping to improve her reputation and seek a life of freedom and happiness.

Everyone’s got a dysfunctional family in one way or another and some of us have been cheated on like Sojin our MC for this Korean webtoon. Walking away from that and waking up the daughter of the wealthiest Duke, she wants to bathe in her riches.

As the reincarnated villainess, known as Reilynn Candmion, the hero of the story named Iris of course picks fights with her as it is her duty after all. But she takes it far as she steals her gowns and flirts with her fiance, how shallow can get.

It’s as if this heroine is daring Reilynn to resort to her anti-heroine ways and cause a scene at every turn rather than allowing her to live in the peace and luxury, our antagonist feels she deserves. What will Reilynn do about this? Find out in the manhwa.

You’re moving on with your life handling the usual business and duties as you are a “yes person” and some might say a push over…. Then one day, you find yourself reincarnated as the villainess to a fantasy, romance novel you wrote ten years ago.

Of course, for any author being teleported to a book you’ve written some years ago and heard them talk can be quite cringey as it was for our simple MC turned antagonist upon her initial arrival.

Our MC is reincarnated into her villainess who is destined to die at the hands of a prince after having cursed his princess. Now, she’s hoping to dodge her own fatal ending in bypassing actions.

Sadly, that doesn’t work as she finds herself in a time loop of the same day unless her actions are completed as written. This webtoon is truly one of a kind as the MC must follow through with her actions to progress and somehow avoid being killed too.

After developing a cancer-like illness our MC closes her eyes to face death. Only to open them to face a world she wouldn’t mind living in…if only she didn’t wake up as the villainess.

In this Manhwa, our MC becomes Ariel Winston, a skilled perfumer, who is married to Duke Cedric. The Duke is a cursed man who must smell a certain scent constantly to keep himself from going berserk.

Now, in order to keep herself from meeting death a second time, Ariel breaks up with him but that isn’t even half of the problem this damsel must face if she wishes to avoid a second demise.

You’re reading a book, it’s juicy. The tale of an evil empress whose protege marries a rich family, is a witch towards the crown prince, blows some cash, and the usual headache of a bad princess. That is until she is beheaded for her notoriousness.

Being thrown into a book is one thing, but being thrown into a manhwa where your doom is pending is another. Carnelia Easter must find a way to rewrite this story if she doesn’t want to end up like the evil empress’s villainess.

Although she knows how the story goes and where the ending leads, it’s hard to fight off her husband and her people when even her “evil acts” are seen as good and happen to attract the prince’s attention rather than push him away. Can Carnelia succeed in her plot for a divorce?

In this exciting manhwa this antagonist dies in her evil ways longing to be loved by her true family. Strangely enough, this longing goes up to her last breath when her older brother delivers the final strike.

Or at least that’s how the read went by our MC when she wakes up as the same antagonist that she didn’t want to be. We find her as Zhilda, before her demise, in her youth attempting to plot how to advance the powers of her character.

Hopefully, once she obtains her powers, she can successfully plot out her revenge and prevent not only her death but her brother’s too.

You go to sleep in your bed only to wake up in another room, in a different bed, with several other people. Sounds like a fun night or a crazed one but for this MC it’s confusing, to say the least.

In this webtoon, our anti-heroine finds herself in an otome game where she’s the Imperial Princess known as Eliva, who is trying to weave her way through a court of men fighting for her hand.

As Eliva, she must make the wiser choice to outsmart her manipulative maid who’s planning to destroy her crowd of men.

Our protagonist turns into an antagonist when she’s warped into a novel where the main character, Ayne, was destined to befall at the hands of her suitors. It is now up to our nameless MC to play the part and get her out of this death trap.

These three trophies aren’t the cream of the crop as one is drowning in debt, another is an assassin arranged to pose as her actual boyfriend, and the last is a simple soulless nobody.

The revived Ayne‘s new goal to break up with these tragic men isn’t as easy by any means when every time she tries, they fall deeper in love with her…could this mean history will repeat itself or will this turn over a new leaf in this manhwa?

Yeoju is a not-so-hot author living in Korea who meets a death after (you guessed it) a car accident, thankfully she is reincarnated into the world of a book she’d been reading. Not just any book, it’s the best-selling martial arts novel!

Yeoju wakes up as the book’s villainess, Haewon Tang who is very well skilled and sharp as a tack. Past that as Haewon Tang, Yeoju must find out who she can befriend, master the power of her inner chi, and fight to save a clan she was sentenced to destroy.

In this Korean comic, you’re a casual office worker where your hours are the typical nine to five as a pencil pusher. Then you’re magically thrust into a romance novel where the villainess (as always) is destined to live a horrible life and die a tragic death.

Well, that’s the story of the antagonist, Everia Oberon, before she decides to ditch the evil money-making business and retire to the countryside enjoying a life of stillness. The sad thing is she’s moved to the countryside where the forest is inflammable!

Now she’s gone and hired an archmage, Theoharis, to use his blue flames to warm her home, in addition to a lifelong contract. It isn’t too bad when he’s handsome, but he’s a violent demon. Now, can Everia leave the evil life behind when she’s met him?

Experiencing a breakup can be hard, but nothing can be worse than falling into a river while crying over the breakup! Such was the story for this young girl, Hwayoung. Let’s go right into this manhwa, shall we?

Hwayoung awakes as the villainess, Satiana Altisee Kaylon, who is the daughter of the House of Kaylon. She is in line to be the next empress, but the crown won’t come easy for this young girl.

I’m not sure what it is with manhwa and running over their original MCs to reincarnate them, but it happens here too to Iris. She’s reincarnated into an otome game she was playing just hours before the accident, I know, strange, right?

Rather than being the heat stopper of the game, the protagonist of a court of men, she’s transmigrated into the role of a villainess. The ironic part, you ask? She’s being sent to live as a nun when she’s known for committing unjust acts.

Waking up, this young girl remembers her mundane life and understands that her situation has changed, after yet another tragic accident an MC wakes up in an Otome video game she used to play.

And she isn’t the hero either. Nope, she’s the main villainess, Catarina Claes. While this MC may have an understanding of how the game works, she must proceed with caution. After all, who in their right mind would want to rush to their deathbed?

Speaking of evil brothers, what if instead of being picked on by your siblings you were made to be their henchmen? Yes, you read it right. You are to devise and carry out the evil plots all from the shadows. And for what? Just so your hyeong can be king, that’s why!

That is until he doesn’t. Artezia was betrayed by her brother, Laurence, who sentenced her to prison for the crimes he had her committed under his rule. He carved out her tongue and dismembered her too!

Thankfully, our anti-hero gets a bit more villainous after being rescued from her cell and recruited to join the rebellion against Laurence’s tyrannical rule. She sacrifices herself only to find that she is thrown back into her 18 year old self with all of her past memories.

With the knowledge she’s obtained from her past mistakes, she now plans to overthrow Laurence and crown a new king, but there’s always dramatic complications in any manhwa.

Hyejung is teleported into her favorite novel, not as the promising princess who is enjoying her count with three lovely men. Instead, she is revived as the nuisance of a villainess.

What could be more sucky be reincarnated as a side villain rather than the main villain or any other important character? Acting as Lattie Ectrie, with our fateful MC in charge, this story is about to take a turn for another meaning as the rightful villainess.

In this webtoon, love has never known a kind nature, only power, lust, status, and well, evil. Talk about drama for a manhwa… Now, let’s imagine being born to a mistress who somehow marries a count and your life is luxurious if you sidestep the sibling squabble you handle.

Yup, instead of our antagonist being the torturee she’s now the torturer…but that power doesn’t last so long for our beloved Aria. As her sister, Mielle, proves it was all a part of her diabolical plan and ends up killing her!

Just as she is about to draw her last breath, Aria sees an hourglass and she wishes she could prove to be as evil as her sister, rival even? She returns to the past seeking to play her sister’s game with even more fiendish means if it proves she can outsmart her and prevent the future.

Imagine living in a world where you’re right to bear claims to your own legacy (that you’ve worked darn stickin’ hard for) is being ripped right out from under you! Now, you must create a plan to get it back even if it means using drastic measures.

Such a Korean comic can be found on Webtoons! Medea Solon is the crown princess to the House of Solon and she must use her swordsman skills, sharp intellect, cunning ways, and perhaps her beauty to earn her seat at the throne that was snatched from beneath her.

In this Korean Webtoon, we see Penelope Eckart, an illegitimate daughter being tormented by her stepbrothers over the pettiest of things. Her friends recommend a dating sim game, which is supposed to present a lovely pass time that turns sour and dark.

Penelope, like yourself, beats the simulator on normal and decides to switch things up, taking the challenge too hard and playing as the antagonist. Only to go to sleep and wake up as the villainess herself!

Now playing as the adoptive daughter of an esteemed duke, she must find a match before his real daughter shows up (he can’t find she’s a fake). The challenge is to take a suitor in order to survive, but how can she when all their probability meters are consistently increasing?

This manhwa is full of kidnapping, murder, and risky relationships. Our antagonist belongs to a criminal family that is as greedy as they are bold! As a result of such, Roxana must pay a price!

Here the heroine’s, Cassis Pedelian, brother is napped by Roxana’s father which puts Roxana in a tough predicament as she can only do one of two things: team up with the hero or wait for her to take her revenge and lash out.

Neither of these two options is looking good as both girls struggle with trust when at the turn of every corner a new lie is unfolding or another betrayal occurs. But in order for Roxana to survive her trial, she has to do something about Cassis.

We’ve heard of countless superhero stories where they take down villains on a consistent basis. Well, what if this ongoing battle got so serious it turned war-like? And what if a lot of the heroes turned villainous?

Yup, saved the best for last. This Korean webtoon can be found on Webtoon as it is one of a kind, separating itself from the rest with its action and fantasy themes. The name of our villainess is Yihwa, her family was killed by a hero. Only she doesn’t know which one.

Yihwa is all about getting her revenge as she goes on the manhunt for the hero who killed her unni, joins a group called the Nameless, and uses her gift to take down the hero association. This manhwa is definitely worth the read with an anti-heroine like this!

One thing we’ve learned from this review is that Korean manhwas and comics all love a decent romance story and MC’s who read novels! While the general plot did become a bit repetitive in that aspect it’s safe to say that they each had their own unique spin.

It is also ok to say that there isn’t any bad manhwa here, but instead, there is a little something for anyone and everyone to enjoy in their own free time.
